101st Air Refueling Wing ANG Bangor IAP, Maine KC-135E 132nd Air Refueling Squadron

The 132nd ARS is the wing's flying unit and has operated the KC-135E since 1984. It was formed as the 132nd Fighter Squadron in February 1947 with P-47Ds, and flew the F-80C in 1948 and the F-51D in 1950. The unit was mobilized between February 1951 and October 1952, followed by conversion to the F-51H as the 132nd FIS. The F-94A was assigned prior to the F-89D in 1957 and the F-89J from December 1959. The 101st FIG was assigned from December 1960. The F-102A was flown for just four months in 1969 before conversion to F-101Bs. The unit changed to an ARS in 1976 with the KC-135A and the group upgraded to Wing status.
